1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using LockStepper ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you and TechBasi ("we," "us," or "our").

2. Description of Service

LockStepper is an iOS application that uses Apple's Family Controls, HealthKit, and Core Motion frameworks to:

Lock apps you select behind step count milestones you define
Automatically unlock those apps in real time when you reach a milestone
Track daily step streaks and allow streak freezes (Pro)
Schedule rest days and flexible weekly goals (Pro)
Auto-escalate your daily step goal over time (Pro)
Deliver local pace nudges and an evening summary notification
Display progress via a lock screen widget and Live Activity
Sync your profile and progress privately across your Apple devices via iCloud
Provide an Apple Watch companion app for wrist-based step tracking

3. Eligibility and Account

No Account Required

LockStepper does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information. Your profile and progress are stored locally on your device using SwiftData and synced privately through your own iCloud account.

Age

The App is rated 4+ on the App Store and may be used by all ages. If you are under 18, please review these Terms with a parent or guardian.

Device Requirements

The App requires iOS 17.6 or later. Some features require an Apple Watch with watchOS 10 or later. Family Controls must be enabled on your device for app-locking functionality to work.

4. In-App Purchases

LockStepper Pro

The App offers a subscription ("LockStepper Pro") that unlocks additional features including streak freezes, rest days, flexible weekly scheduling, and auto-escalating goals. The current pricing is displayed in the App at the time of purchase.

Payment and Billing

All purchases are processed through the Apple App Store. Payment terms, billing cycles, and refund eligibility are governed by Apple's terms and conditions. TechBasi does not directly process payments or store payment information.

Subscription Management and Cancellation

You may manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds outside of Apple's standard refund policy.

Restore Purchases

You may restore your subscription on any of your Apple devices by using the restore feature within the App while signed in to the same Apple ID used at purchase.

5. Required Permissions and Their Use

HealthKit and Core Motion

The App requires access to your step count data to function. This data is read on-device only and is never transmitted to TechBasi or any third party (except as described in the Privacy Policy regarding RevenueCat). You may revoke HealthKit access at any time in your device settings, though this will prevent the App from detecting step milestones.

Family Controls

The App uses Apple's Family Controls framework to lock and unlock apps. This permission is central to the App's core functionality. You grant this permission voluntarily and can revoke it through iOS Screen Time settings. TechBasi cannot override or bypass the permissions enforced by Apple's Family Controls framework.

Notifications

Notifications are optional. All notifications are local — they are scheduled on your device and do not pass through any external server. You may disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Attempt to circumvent, reverse engineer, or tamper with the app-locking mechanism or Family Controls enforcement
Use the App for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the App or its supporting infrastructure
Decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer the App
Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels within the App
Use the App in any manner that could damage, disable, or impair it

7. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, graphics, interface, branding, and all related intellectual property, is owned by TechBasi and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes on Apple devices you own or control, subject to these Terms and Apple's App Store guidelines.

8. Privacy

Your use of the App is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the Privacy Policy.

9. Health and Fitness Disclaimer

LockStepper is a productivity and behavior-change tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Step count data is sourced from HealthKit and Core Motion and may not be perfectly accurate. Do not rely on the App as a substitute for professional medical or fitness advice. Consult a healthcare professional before beginning any new physical activity program.

10. No Guarantee of Availability

The App depends on Apple platform features including Family Controls, HealthKit, and iCloud. Changes to iOS, watchOS, or Apple's policies may affect App functionality. We will endeavor to keep the App compatible with current iOS versions but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability of all features.

11. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. TECHBASI DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT ANY DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, TECHBASI SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF TECHBASI HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, TechBasi's liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless TechBasi and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the App or your violation of these Terms.

14. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data from your device.

We reserve the right to discontinue the App or any feature at any time. If the App is discontinued, your Pro subscription will not auto-renew and any remaining subscription period will not be refunded except as required by Apple's terms.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction in Michigan.

17. Apple's Terms

These Terms are between you and TechBasi only, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and Apple's App Store terms, Apple's terms govern with respect to App Store usage. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms solely as they relate to your license to use the App.
